About this tool
This discount calculator works both ways. Switch to "Original price → Sale price" to enter a regular price and a discount percentage and see exactly how much you save and what the final price should be — handy for double-checking whether an advertised "30% off" sticker actually matches the price on the tag. Switch to "Sale price → Original price" to go the other direction: type in the price you actually paid (or see on a receipt) plus the discount percentage that was applied, and the calculator works backwards to reveal the pre-discount price and the discount amount.
It is a quick way to catch pricing mistakes, verify a coupon or promo code did what it claimed, or reconstruct the "before" price when a store only prints the sale price and the percentage off. Frequently asked questions
If I stack two 20% discounts, do I get 40% off?
No — stacked percentage discounts multiply, they don't add. Applying 20% off, then another 20% off the already-discounted price, gives you 0.8 × 0.8 = 0.64, meaning you pay 64% of the original price — a 36% total discount, not 40%. To model this with this calculator, run the "Original → Sale" calculation twice in sequence, feeding the first result's sale price back in as the second calculation's original price.
