Commission Calculator 🔒 Your data never leaves your browser.

Calculate sales commission, or the sale needed for a target commission.

About this tool

This commission calculator works in both directions. Enter a sale amount and your commission rate to see exactly how much you take home, or switch to reverse mode and enter a target commission plus your rate to see how large a sale you would need to close to hit that goal. The maths is deliberately simple and transparent: commission is sale amount × rate ÷ 100, and the reverse mode just solves that same equation for the sale amount.

Salespeople use this two ways: forward mode is the quick check after a deal closes — "what does a 12% cut on a $4,000 sale actually pay?" — while reverse mode is for planning ahead, when a rep has a specific commission goal (rent due, a quota bonus, a personal target) and needs to know exactly what sale size gets them there at their given rate. Everything runs locally in your browser — the figures you enter never leave your device.

Frequently asked questions

Is commission calculated before or after taxes?

This calculator computes the raw commission on the sale amount you enter — it doesn't know or apply any tax withholding. In most jobs, commission is treated as taxable income just like a regular wage, and taxes are withheld separately by the employer afterward, so the number shown here is your gross commission before any tax deductions, not your take-home amount.
