CPM Calculator 🔒 Your data never leaves your browser.
Calculate cost per 1000 impressions, or impressions affordable for a budget.
About this tool
This CPM calculator works in both directions. Enter your ad spend and the number of impressions it bought to get the CPM — cost per mille, "mille" being Latin for thousand, i.e. the cost of every 1,000 impressions — or switch to reverse mode and enter a budget plus a known CPM to see how many impressions that budget would afford. The maths is deliberately simple and transparent: CPM is (ad spend ÷ impressions) × 1000, and the reverse mode just solves that same equation for impressions.
CPM differs from CPC in what it actually charges for: CPC bills only when someone clicks, so it ties spend to a direct response, while CPM bills for exposure alone, regardless of whether anyone clicks at all. That makes CPM the standard pricing model for brand-awareness display and video campaigns — where the goal is reach and repeated views, not an immediate click — rather than for direct-response campaigns chasing conversions. Everything runs locally in your browser — the figures you enter never leave your device.
Frequently asked questions
When would I use CPM instead of CPC or CPA?
CPM fits campaigns where the goal is exposure and reach rather than an immediate action — brand awareness campaigns, video pre-roll ads, or display banners meant to keep a product in front of people over time. CPC and CPA (cost per click / cost per acquisition) are better fits when you're paying specifically for measurable engagement or conversions, since with CPM you pay for the impression whether or not anyone interacts with the ad at all.
